January 25, 2011 - Day 2

I know I'm behind by a couple of days, but I'm going to catch up on the days soon enough.

We went to Disney Hollywood Studios, and did the two main rides: Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster. They were doing construction on the outside of the ToT, so I didn't get to take a picture of it.

We ate at Rosie's All-American Cafe. Both of us had the personal pepperoni pizza and Caesar salad, and while I had chocolate cake, my mom had the carrot cake.

The pizza crust, in my opinion, was a little bit too crunchy for my liking, and the salad wasn't like the salad we had in September. When we ate there then, the salad we got was a traditional tossed salad, but now it was a Caesar salad. The salad was a bit too small, but the good side was that they didn't put the dressing on it, but on the side and gave us a choice of other dressings from the condiment bar.

After we left DHS, we hopped on one of the Friendship boats to go to EPCOT, where we browsed around in the UK, walked over to America to catch the American Adventure show, got Pocky and Hello Panda in Japan, and then ate dinner in Morocco at the Tangerine Cafe.

My mom's dinner consisted of a lamb platter with Moroccan pita bread, couscous, hummus, and tangerine salad, and on top of the lamb was a cucumber type sauce with onions. My dinner was a lamb wrap with the same cucumber type sauce on a Moroccan flat bread with tomatoes, and it was served with lentil salad and couscous, both of which I gave to my mom because I had tried them both years ago and never quite developed tastes for them. So I had also gotten a side order of fries to go along with my wrap. For dessert, both of us had Moroccan baklava, which was yummy, as always.

After we ate dinner, we walked over to Boardwalk in the pouring rain to see about getting a snack (since we're on the Quick Service dining plan) to take back to the room. While we didn't get anything, I did discover that Cat Cora, the only female Iron Chef who owns a restaurant at the Boardwalk called Kouzzina was going to be there the next day to sign her new cookbook! All in all, this was a good day.

January 24, 2011 - Day 1

Well, here I am, all settled into the Disney routine. We (my mom and I) are staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village, and it's absolutely beautiful. I'm doing something similar to AJ's Disney Food Blog (which is amazing, by the way. If you don't follow it, you should, and soon), where I take pictures of food and talk about it.

I'm also going to post pictures of the traditional landmarks, and just anything about Disney.

Monday we had a bit of a rough start to the trip, but all was well once we got on the Disney's Magical Express and got to the room. We ate at the Mara in the Jumbo House before heading off to the Magic Kingdom for their late night. We both had the chicken, except I got mine with fries and my mom got hers with couscous.

This was one of the downsides to eating at Disney. Both of our chickens were bland, like it needed some seasoning. The standard fries were of Disney caliber, and, to quote my mom, the couscous and sauce was "decent".

Chicken without the skin, oh my!

For dessert we had Zebra Domes. These are God's gift to mankind, I'm telling you. Amazing, simply amazing. And to make everything better, you get five to a container.

After watching the Main Street Electrical Parade and doing a couple of things in Tomorrowland, we ate at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, which happens to be one of my favorite quick-service restaurants in the Magic Kingdom. I had the bacon cheeseburger while my mom had the guacamole and bacon cheeseburger. We were going to get the sugar-free brownies, but when we got our food, we were told that they were out of all the desserts, and we got chocolate chip cookies and apple slices instead. Lesson: never go to eat dinner if you want a good dessert during the late night. Cosmic Ray's runs out of things fast. Also, forgive the fact that my mom can scarf down half of a burger in about the time it took me to dig my camera out of my bag.

Less than 12 hours!

In less than 12 hours, I'll be going back to my home away from home! I'm really excited about it. My mom and I are staying at DAK Lodge - Kidani Village, which we'll be the second time we've stayed there.

So I guess I better get to packing, huh? Yeah, still haven't done that. So much going on tonight!
